Parent Information Staying Safe Online
We now very much live in a digital world and it’s so important that children know how to be safe online. There are lots of platforms and apps that children can now download and use. Children are using digital devices at home, at friends’ houses or anywhere they go if they have a mobile connection. As parents, it’s crucial that we teach our children how to be safe online and know what our children are doing online. This includes the importance of being kind and respectful to others when online.
We hope that this page will help you with how to keep your child safe online. Below are some useful links and information and here are some ideas for conversation starters with your child about what they are doing online:
- Ask your child what games or apps they are enjoying using. Can they show you how to play the game?
- Ask if they know how to stay safe online?
- Ask if anything has made them feel worried or uncomfortable online? Do they know who to speak to and what to do?
- Keep the conversation open and reassure them.
