Easter boost for NPS neighbours
Kind-hearted children at Netherfield Primary School have been praised for spreading happiness by sending Easter cards to local pensioners.
Pupils made 100 Easter cards to hand out to members of Netherfield and Colwick Senior Citizen's club hoping to give them a much-needed boost during lockdown.
The idea to tackle loneliness in the community was brought up on the recent Co-op Gedling and Netherfield Forum, with member pioneer for Netherfield, Alison Marsh, suggesting the school could create cards to distribute.
Headteacher Mr Crone immediately backed the idea and children in Years 1 and 2 set to work on their designs.
Said Mr Crone: “It was such a positive message for our young children in Years 1 and 2 on their return to full schooling. They thoroughly enjoyed making the Easter cards and the project fits perfectly with kindness, which is one of our character pillars. Our thanks to everyone who made it possible.”
The cards, with postage funded by the local Co-op, were much appreciated by the senior citizens, who described them as 'beautiful'.
